Happy Fall and happy October!
My favorite season is Autumn (wait, do we have seasons here?). Although we may not have the full Fall foliage of red, orange and yellow, the air is a little cooler and feels different. The roads are usually great for driving, at least until the rains come around Halloween. Another reason I love this time of year.
Unfortunately, the fires are raging in Northern California right now and so many people are without homes. I hope we get some rain sooner to help those firefighters out. My boyfriend’s son, Josh, has been working for the California Conservation Corp in Watsonville since July. He is staying with me during this time and it’s his first real job, learning a lot about people while working hard. He has been assigned to various projects for a couple of weeks at a time, to clear brush or work at a fire, assisting the firemen with their supplies, checking temperatures and whatever else they need. We are really proud of him.
Speaking of pride, I think I had mentioned that the Prieta POST received a National PCA newsletter award! I submitted a couple of issues to be judged by my peers who are newsletter editors in other regions. The overall feedback of the printed/PDF version was:
- clean layout and format
- flows well
- easy to read
- nice coverage of events
- great content
- club focused – members and cars
I am proud of this group for achievening this award! We placed third in our region’s category. Thank you and congratulations to those who have submitted articles summarizing our events!
Here is the physical award that came in the mail yesterday!

See you next month!
