Hey, I’m new here!
Well, sort of… I’m the person they found to help with the newsletter. But I’m certainly not new to the world or Porsche, or LPR! I’ve been a member of the PCA since 2010, but by default was placed in the Golden Gate region. I “transferred” to LPR sometime in 2014.
A little bit about me…
I’ve been seriously “into” cars ever since I can remember. I’m kind of the oddball of the family as I’m really the only one who has any real interest in cars at all. Of course, Covid has sidelined virtually all activities I tend to engage in, but in more “normal” years I tend to make appearances at various cars and coffee events, shows, concours, drives and tours, and occasionally find myself at a race track (usually with a friend, I’m not much of a track guy).

I’m a fan of all sorts of cars, but my big focus is vintage European cars. More specifically, Porsche and Ferrari are my two loves. Fortunately, I can afford a Porsche! I can actually recall the moment I fell in love with 911. It was 1982 and I was 12 years old. I stumbled across a movie called Condorman (1981), and it was terrible. But, the hero was involved in a chase scene in which he was pursued by five black Porsche 911 Turbos, and one was a slant nose.
The imagery was impressive, and I just thought those were the coolest cars I had ever seen in my life. From that point forward, I was addicted. I started noticing the 911 everywhere, and my parents certainly got tired of me pointing them out every time I saw one. Today, my wife tolerates it quite well.
I’m also a collector of virtually anything automotive related, especially when it comes to Porsche and Ferrari (obvious?). The walls of my work-from-home office are adorned with largely framed Porsche posters, and a curio cabinet full of diecast cars and other memorabilia from the automotive world… and a few movie things in there too (that’s my other hobby : filmmaker).
As a filmmaker, I love telling stories. That hobby has been on hiatus for a while due to recent conditions. But, I don’t have to make a film to tell a story. If you’d like to have your story told here in the Prieta POST as a member profile, please send me an email! I’d love to hear about you, what you do for fun, and what got you into these crazy cars we all love so much.
