We received notification of a donation from Ken and June Iles trust. There are specifics about how the donation should be used. Funds will be received when the trust is able to release funds.
Based on reading the trust document, we will have about $2,000 / year for 5 years for a specific purpose.
Emilie Highley is one of the trustees and she will help us define actions that meet the parameters.
Discussion: Emilie stated that Ken and June Isles would like a perpetual Hospitality Award to be presented. The annual gift of $2,000 per year is to be used for a party in their name. Both of these requests would not begin until 2026.
Monterey Region is very sorry about any misunderstanding that occurred for Sept. 13.
Their members wanted something different and want Oktoberfest to be a separate event.
They are working on Oktoberfest for October 18. This should be on our calendar and marked Tentative.
Mark McMahon and I met last week, and I explained everyone from LPR loved our 1st year Oktoberfest with MBR.
The park and the caterer are the same ones used for Concours in Paradise.
Mark had asked me for options, and my Monterey catering connection decided to go upmarket.
Thanks to all for coming to the photo.
Best one yet!
VA has updated info, says November 1 is the perfect day for them.
Checking with Board on that day for us.
Is date OK? Same food arrangements – Panera, Missy will pick up, etc.
LPR’s party scheduled for September 13 will take place in Cupertino during the Cupertino Fall Fest. A venue located near the Fall Fest band has a fee of $500. Dinner will be catered at a price of $25/person.
Other Regions seem to be having challenges with too many activities. Lately, we had MBR Oktoberfest turn into two calendar dates, and added tours. Something for the Board to think about – should there be a process for adding / changing activities? We don’t need to figure this out immediately, it’s just a question to consider.
Discussion: Dave mentioned that the Activities Director needs to be informed of all additions and changes. He also reminded us that the Activities Director has a meeting in the later part of November where activities are decided for the upcoming calendar year. In the past, the meeting would try to set up the calendar typically to have 1 autocross, 1 tour, and 1 GTG per month.
Proposal: By email, Dana Drysdale made a motion to pay the room rental fee of $500 for the LPR 70th Anniversary Party Second: Honore Ayes: 6 Noes: None Motion passes

All is good . . . LPR Members are all healthy!
It was a daunting issue with more pages than ever before.
The lead articles were: Werks Reunion with interviews with photographer Michael Allen Ross and LPR friend Gunter Fieldmeier, our annual picnic, the Hit the Trail Tour with Nicole Naidu appearing as a first- time contributor and she did a great job in her debut, and bios for our board candidates.
To my delight, Doris feels like she is stepping up her contributions to the POST, not being just a grammatical proofreader but weighing in on content presentation and providing various exceptional recommendations for the issue.
The keen observer will note that I use the same font and bolding for both our names in the masthead on page 4… as I attempt to recognize her contributors are more than just hounding me away from run on sentences, which she still needs to do. DAMN, there I go again!
ALSO, I’ve listed people that have contributed articles to the POST in recent times as Contributors. This doesn’t mean that each provided something for this issue, but that we consider them as part of our bull pen of writers and want to recognize them for both past and, hopefully, future contributions.
Speaking of future contributions, I will not be able to attend a number of events in the coming months. So, I need someone to volunteer for the following events:
PCA 70th Anniversary event. Good chance to write about something new.
The LPR and MBR joint Oktoberfest event Oct 18th. There ought to be a story in there, somewhere!!
The Over the Moon June event. Apparently, this is a route that was a June Iles favorite, so there should be some good nostalgic aspects of this tour that could be highlighted.
Jacobs Heart tour: the event seems that it will similar to last years, so maybe difficult to come up with a new angle.
Toys for Tots: Again, somewhat of a repeat, but there should be a story if focus on the toys for tots angle.
<. these stories don’t need to be lengthy, but perhaps a brief review in sort of a “In Case You Missed It” teaser. >
LPR at the VA: While this is a repeat event, it is A GOOD FEELING story… should be easy to come up with some interesting stories about our veterans. I might be able to attend, TBD.
I will be reporting on the Tahoe overnight tour and a bonus report on UnStock.
Anyone interested in joining me to UnStock. We will meet up with a couple YOS folks. Still an outside chance that Kelly Tefler will be in one of the YOS cars.
Dana to submit the group photo from WERKS.
Safety Report for Autocross #6 was already completed and was noted in the August board meeting minutes.
The “Hit the Trail” Tour was conducted in August.
The “Jacob’s Heart” Tour is next up on 20-September.
The “Fall in Love with Tahoe Overnight” Tour follows on the 27-September.
Remaining Tours on the Calendar for 2025: Jacob’s Heart Tour (20-Sep), Fall in Love with Tahoe Overnight Tour (27-28-Sep), To the Moon, June (4-Oct), Ole Amigos Tour (8-Nov), Toys 4 Tots (23-Nov).,
The Ole Amigos Tour, currently scheduled on 8-Nov, needs a host! I’ll develop a paragraph calling for a Host in the Blast.
Nothing to report.
At the September 9 meeting, I would like to ask for board approval to spend $379.21 for renewal of our website hosting service (which renews on October 12) for one year, and $125.85 for SiteLock (which renews on September 22). SiteLock is a website security service that helps protect websites from various online threats like malware, viruses, and hackers (so far so good on that front)
Although my next request is below the $200 threshold, I would also like to ask for board approval to spend $198.00 for a two-month subscription to SurveyMonkey for the 2025 election.
On to the monthly report.
During the month of August, the webmaster did the following:
Proposal: Homer makes a motion to approve $703.06 to pay the expenses that Jim describes above. Second: Dana D. Ayes: 5 Noes: None Motion passes
